What’s better than vacationing on a tranquil Caribbean island? Experiencing the incredible energy of that same island during a festival or event! Curaçao, one of the Caribbean’s hidden gems, features a range of travel-worthy festivals and events each year.
Curaçao Events 2018
Nearly any month out of the year there’s at least one island festival or happening that attracts visitors from around the world. Since it’s still early on in the year, you may just decide to plan a getaway for sun, sand, and celebrations! Here are the events we’re looking forward to in Curaçao in 2018:
If you want to attend this one, you’re going to have to plan ASAP! Happening March 30 + 31st, it’s right around the corner. It’s well worth the trip (and planning), though. The festival celebrates the resurgence of Blues music and features a plethora of artists over the course of its two days. The festival takes place in the historic Pietermaai District, making it both visually and aesthetically appealing! Oh, and did we mention it’s free?!
Friday, April 27, 2018, is the annual (orange) holiday in which everyone celebrates the King of The Netherlands! Since Curaçao is a constituent country of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, royal pride is strong! The holiday is widely referred to as King’s Day, and there are always an array of parties and festivities to celebrate!
Next to Carnival (which has already finished for the year, sadly), the North Sea Jazz Festival is the island’s biggest event of the year. The Jazz Festival draws thousands of visitors and is one of the most popular festivals in all of the Caribbean. This year the festival is from August 30 – September 1st, 2018. Over the course of three days, enjoy listening and watching some of the best jazz performers in the world. The full line up can be found here.
Curaçao is home to one of the Caribbean’s largest pride celebrations. From September 27 – 30, 2018, festival-goers will enjoy parties, activities, musical performances and much more. The events have not been announced just yet, but they will be soon! Spoiler, there will be an incredible parade!
Curaçao’s most popular fitness-related event of the year is hands down the KLM Marathon, which is taking place on November 25, 2018, this year. Run a marathon or a half marathon, while taking in some of the islands most iconic sights. To register or learn more, visit here.
Between the sun, sea, sand, and celebrations, there’s no reason not to visit Curaçao in 2018. Our island lies below the hurricane belt, meaning there is never a time you can’t visit. We have excellent weather and enticing water year-round. Whenever you need a Caribbean getaway, the island is just a flight away! Visit during one of the events, or come just because!
Either way, you’ll be able to take your relaxation to the next level with a stay at the luxurious beachfront Santa Barbara Beach & Golf Resort.
